We are working on Jatropha cultivation and further development
for the last 15 months.
· TRANSESTERIFICATION PLANT: - Our final target
is to set up a 100 TPD X 3 nos.Transesterification plant at
West Midnapore. We have already approached West Bengal Infrastructure
Development Corporation for Land & other assistances.
We are in receipt of Technology offer from Lurgee - Germany
and two other companies from USA and who have shown keen interest
in setting up the project in West Bengal.
· FEEDSTOCK SUPPORT : - To operate efficiently
the Transesterification plant we require large volumes of Jatropha
oil. to obtain the oil from Jatropha seeds we have taken up
large scale cultivation of Jatropha Curcas L in the four districts
of South Bengal: i.e. in West Midnapore, Bankura, Birbhum &
Purulia.
To spread the awareness of Jatropha cultivation we intend to
set up Agro Processigng Centres in the above four districts
which will comprise of
a) Modern Laboratory with R&D facility
b) Farmers' Training Centre
c) Satellite Nursery
d) Model Farm
e) Oil Extraction Unit
Our AGRO PROCESSING CENTRE at West Midndapore will be
operational by the middle of next month. Land & other infrastructure
support has been received from Zilla Parishad, WBIDC, Land &
Land Reforms Dept, Govt. of West Bengal etc. For other districts
25 Acres in each district land has also been alloted to us and
we are completing the legal formalities to take charge of the
land.
To make the Centre operational we have already recruited Highly
skilled managers, Post Graduate Agronomists, Bio - technologists
and farmers. These people are with us for the last 15 months
and have studied all farming techniques and have identified
suitable seed source and grafting techniques for faster development
of the plants.
OUR OBSERVATIONS
Initially, we have produced 50,000 Jatropha plants obtaining
seeds from Churu, NOVOD, & CS&MCRI - Bhavnagar. As well
as from a laboratory at Coimbatore. with proper care of these
plants the fruiting starts between 9 - 12 months.
COVERED AREA
Our effort to cover 10,000 Ha arid land in the above four districts
each. To spread the awareness we have started our dialogue with
large numbers of Panchayat Samitis & their respective Pradhans
in each district and have received encouraging responses. Almost
all the Panchayat Pradhans placed order on us for Jatropha plants
to be planted on the free -hold land of the Panchayats.
We will be glad to furnish you further information on the development
of Jatropha Curcas in the above 4 districts and we look forward
to receive from you, your encouragement, recognition and wish
to hold discussions for further implementation of the Jatropha
cultivation in the district stated above.
