The Institute was registered in the
year 1982. Since its inception the Institute is engaged in
promotional activities. Amongst others, these activities relate
to aforestation for maintenance of ecological balance. To
achieve this objective, the Institute has adopted parks, green
belts in Noida, Gautam Budh Nagar District in U.P. The Institute
has taken initiative for promotion of cultivation of herbs
and medicinal plants and has submitted a Project entitled
"Development of Herbal belt in Uttaranchal based on the
application of Bio & Information Technology" to Ministry
of Science and Technology, Govt. of India . The Institute
has also prepared an approach paper for setting up of a 'Research
Village' in the State of Himachal Pradesh and submitted the
same to Deptt. of Bio-technology, Government of Himachal Pradesh.
Presently, the Institute is engaged in propagation/cultivation
of Jatropha Curcas through Self Help Groups(SHGs) under Swaranjayanti
Gram Swarojgar Yojna(SGSY) of Govt. of India. The Institute
has also been invited by Uttaranchal Bio-fuel Board to participate
in training, monitoring and evaluation of Jatropha plantation
for selected Van Panchayats.The Institute has been instrumental
in promoting jatropha cultivation in and around Hathras city
of District Mahamaya Nagar in UP. To achieve this, IASRD has
set up a Jatropha Nursery in Hathras City. The main objective
is to develop Jatropha saplings from quality seeds on scientific
basis. The Nursery will have a Training Centre where people
can be trained in all aspects of Jatropha plantation. Saplings
of all age group in bulk can be obtained from the Nursery
by placing a firm order. Trained manpower for large scale
plantation work can also be provided by the Centre. For promotion
of Jatropha on mass scale, IASRD organizes seminars, workshops
at village level, training programs for village panchayat
institutions, undertakes Jatropha plantation on turnkey basis
for industries. Further the Institute is in the process of
associating with Northern Railways for cultivation of jatropha
along the railway tracks. Institute has also submitted a proposal
to the Chief Development Officer, Gautam Budh nagar for taking
up plantation of jatropha along the road constructed under
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sevak Yojna (PMGSY) in the District.
