UTTRANCHAL
Uttaranchal Bio-fuel Board (UBB) has been constituted as a nodal agency for bio-diesel promotion in the state.
Within 30 days of its formation, the UBB has implemented Jatropha plantation in 29 Van Panchayats covering an area of 350 Hectares benefiting 187 families by this plantation activity.
Has undertaken Jatropha plantation in an area of 1 lakh hectare.

Mandate of Uttaranchal Government to Uttaranchal Bio Fuel Board- Jatropha Curcas in an area of Two Lac Hectares up to 20012.

UBB has established Jatropha Gene Bank to preserve high yielding seed varieties.
Has ambitious plan to produce 100 million liters of bio-diesel.
Tribal block Kalsi of Dehradun district was identified to start the project by Board.
Area identification for plantation in an area of 25000 hectare in the next July has been initiated.
Beneficiaries have been selected from Van Panchayats with a criterion that they should be BPL and priority has been given to SC/ST. Each beneficiary has been issued identity cards so that they may open account in bank with zero balance, right person gets the payments for plantation and seed costs
